Interest Form: Leasing space in the East Brooklyn Industrial Business Zone
Is your non-profit, worker-owned cooperative, or business looking for industrial space in the next 5 years? Are you in the food, sustainable manufacturing, or cannabis industries? If so, we want to hear from you!
East New York Community Land Trust (ENYCLT) is working in coalition with organizations in East New York and Brownsville including Universe City NYC, the Economic Justice for East New York Committee of the Coalition for Community Advancement, East Brooklyn Mutual Aid, Preserving East New York, East New York Archives with the support of our architect, Bagchee Architects, to create a community masterplan for 8 city-owned sites in the East Brooklyn Industrial Business Zone (IBZ) - watch this video to see each site and neighborhood context.
The city-owned sites are currently vacant lots, underutilized parking lots and one abandoned Long Island Railroad substation. We held 4 community visioning sessions thus far and numerous interviews with community stakeholders. A framework for the kind of entities we would like to see occupying the buildings on these 8 sites, has emerged - see table below:
While our focus is on developing affordable space for organizations in the food, sustainable manufacturing, and cannabis sectors, we are in the early planning stages and would love to hear from groups interested who would like to locate in the IBZ but are in other sectors. We encourage you to fill out the form and tell us a bit about your company/organization and plans for the future.
Note: We are in the planning stages for the sites in the IBZ. Although ENYCLT doesn’t own any of these sites, we are building a movement to revitalize the IBZ and transfer these sites so we can provide affordable space to organization’s like yours.
